DAPHNE PAPER:
For centuries, deep in the himalayan mountains, skilled nepalese artisans have been crafting the Daphne paper by hands. It used to be exclusively made for printing the buddhist texts.
Made from the bark of the Daphne, a bush that grows at altitudes of over 6000 feet, the nepalese handemade paper is prized for its attractive texture, insect-repellant properties and exceptional durability. The Daphne bush regenarates rapidly and its harvesting does not endanger the environment.
THE COMPANY: MARINA PAPER:
Marina Shrestha, the exclusive designer for Marina Paper, was raised in Paris but found her soul in the Himalayas. She delights working on new creations in her Kathmandu studio.
In 1993, Marina starts a small production unit of handmade paper items. The evolution follows and the workshop is enlarged according to demand.
