Velaria, the Tartaruga explores the world of sailing
Pircher will be launching a new shade system at the Sun Exhibition, Rimini, which combines the warmth of a natural wood frame with technologies derived from sailing.

Wood and sail cloth have always been the primary components of sailing vessels. Pircher, inspired by this concept and with a design by the Masoni Out Design studio, is launching a new outdoors shade system, Velaria, on the Italian and international markets.

Velaria is an exclusive marriage of wood and sail: a wooden frame, with a sail-like awning, employing the controls typical of sail boats.
The glossary of Tartaruga outdoors structures now includes marine terminology like "sheet, eye bolt, winchard, jam cleat, ..."
The sail awning and its controls are original marine equipment, and thus highly resistant to stress and atmospheric agents.

The frame, which is available in grey and white, is constructed using twin laminated spruce beams, certified PEFC (from sustainably managed forest) and is available in the size: 440x440x300 h cm.
The wood has been treated with a new autoclave impregnation technique, the Vacsol Aqua® system, which uses a water-based wood preserving product with active biodegradable components to protect against insect and mould attack, without organic solvent emissions.

"The structures and furnishings must be original, elegant creations, constructed to form a stylish design for the outdoors which is always in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Style and function go hand in hand in Velaria, every component has been designed down to the smallest detail.
The awning opens with easy to operate manual controls, and it is this manuality which gives the product its unique fascination, that of «hoisting a sail»....." Andrea Lacedelli, sales manager for the Tartaruga product line.
